Dry Mechanical Processing

Dry mechanical processing generates particularly hazardous dry dusts and fumes. These processes do not involve the use of liquids or fluids like lubricants or coolants and rely mainly on the use of solid tools and utensils to remove excess material from a workpiece surface. Common examples include milling, turning, sawing, sanding, satin finishing, grinding, deburring, shot-penning, welding, material hardening, material removal, and thermal cutting such as plasma and laser cutting.

Each industrial company produces specific pollutants that are concerning due to the complex mixture of fumes and dusts whose composition can vary based on the type of material undergoing processing. Proper industrial air filtration is essential to address potential health problems resulting from exposure and to avoid secondary side effects affecting machinery, technologies, and the quality of the final product.
