Treatment of dust in the railway maintenance industry

In this case study, we explore the collaboration between HFiltration and a Swiss company specializing in railway maintenance. In anticipation of a new project planned for 2025, the company requested an upgrade of the filtration system, which includes the installation of 8 pairs of filters specifically designed to fit the new trains. This project focuses on optimizing airflow, maximizing suction, and cooling the grinding wheel placed under the train.

treatment of dust in the railway maintenance industry

Problems

  • Need to improve airflow and ensure maximum suction
  • Importance of cooling the grinding wheel placed under the train
  • Efficient maintenance and performance to be maintained over the long term

Technical features PC12

  • Filter unit based on PC12
  • No.2 motorfans of 11 kW each
  • Air flow rate: 2 x 5.500 m3/h
  • Total pressure: about 3.500 Pa
  • Air distribution system: 6 welded distribution pipes
  • Automatic cleaning: 6 full immersion 1''&1/2 solenoid valves
Solutions

HFiltration initiated a detailed measurement on existing filter units. It was then decided to offer a new unit based on the PC12 model, optimized for enhanced airflow and sustained performance over time. The unit includes two motorfans of 11 kW each, an upgraded tank, and an air distribution system that improve cleaning and filter life.

Advantages
  • Increased intake capacity and optimized airflow
  • Effective cooling of the grinding wheel
  • Simplified maintenance and sustained performance
  • Improved energy efficiency
