Dust treatment in the metallurgical industry

In this case study, we collaborated with a Dutch company specialized in the processing and distribution of stainless steel laminated products. As part of their production processes, the brushing of steel generated dust and required an effective filtration system to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the working environment.

dust treatment in the metallurgical industry

Problems

  • Need for a 75-meter-long extraction line.
  • Stringent requirements on the concentration limits of outgoing pollutants.
  • Need to optimize the ambient air recirculation system.
  • Specific request for the installation of galvanized steel ductwork.
  • Mandatory stack outlet for the safe discharge of treated gases.
  • Accumulation of stainless steel dust on machinery, leading to wear issues.

Technical features PC CYCLONE and DUST COLLECTOR

  • Airflow rate: 60.000 m3/h
  • Installed power: 75 kW
  • Filtering surface: 1.000 m2
  • Triple filtration stage:
  1. N°2 Cyclone pre-separators
  2. Dust collector | HJL Cart
  3. HEPA final filter
Solutions

HF Group developed a custom filtration system that includes two PC Cyclone pre-separators designed to capture the coarser stainless steel dust particles, thereby reducing the load on the main HJL Cart filter. The system, completed with a HEPA final filter, ensures maximum filtration efficiency and long-lasting component performance. Additionally, the integration of an efficient thermal management setup allows for optimized air recirculation based on seasonal conditions.

Advantages
  • Effective filtration
  • Longer lifespan of filter elements, resulting in reduced maintenance costs.
  • Emission control compliant with stringent requirements
  • Lower maintenance costs
  • Safer and cleaner work environment
