Solvent odour treatment in pneumatic tube production

In this case study we present a collaboration with a Polish company that manufactures pneumatic tubes, which faced serious problems due to the odor of solvents emitted by 3D printers used in the production process. These odors not only created an unpleasant working environment, but also posed an explosion risk, endangering the safety of employees and the continuity of production.

solvent odour treatment in pneumatic tube production

Problems

  • Solvent odors: 3D printers were emitting volatile solvents that caused strong odors in the work environment, negatively affecting the well-being of employees.
  • Safety issues: the presence of volatile solvents increased the risk of explosions, threatening the safety of workers and the integrity of production operations.
  • Production risks: compromised air quality risked disrupting pneumatic tube production, potentially damaging the company's reputation and finances.

Technical features PC MINI

  • Model PC01MVH-CARR
  • Filtering media: antistatic polyester
  • 75kg activated carbon filter
  • ATEX fan
  • Suction arm
Solutions

In order to face these problems, HF adopted an integrated solution with the PC Mini wheeled machine, equipped with an antistatic polyester filtering media to reduce static electricity buildup and improve safety. This was combined with a final filtering phase containing 75 kg of activated carbon, capable of absorbing and neutralizing volatile solvents and eliminating unpleasant odors.

Advantages
  • Odor reduction: solvent odors have been eliminated, significantly improving air quality and comfort for employees.
  • Clean work environment: reducing employee exposure to harmful substances.
  • Reduced explosion risk: the use of antistatic materials and an ATEX fan minimized explosion risks.
