VOC treatment in asphalt production
A Polish company active in the production of asphalt turned to HF Group to address critical issues related to the filtration of fumes generated during production, which contained liquid particles and VOCs. Before proposing any solution, we analyzed the production process, studied the specific nature of the VOCs involved, and accurately estimated the required airflow. We also coordinated new VOC tests, carried out by an accredited laboratory, to obtain reliable data on which to base the project. The effectiveness of the intervention led the client to request additional units for a second plant, confirming both the quality of the work and their satisfaction.
Problems
- The fumes emitted during the process contained both liquid particles and VOCs, requiring a customized filtration solution.
- The existing system, supplied by another provider, lacked a pre-filtration stage - essential for this type of emission.
- The abatement capacity had been overestimated.
- The initial VOC tests had been conducted incorrectly.

Based on the new tests and in-depth analysis, HF Group designed a two-stage filtration system:
- A coalescence filter with special fiber candles to eliminate liquid particles.
- An activated carbon filter with a VOC adsorption capacity of 1,400 kg.
- Significant odor reduction
- Effective VOC abatement
- Maximum flexibility: all customer- requested changes were integrated during the project
