In this case study, we present a maintenance intervention carried out through the HF Service for a well-known Italian company in the glass industry. The customer, already equipped with an activated carbon filtration system, required a replacement of the filtering media to ensure consistent abatement performance and continuous plant operation.

HF Service carried out the complete replacement of the activated carbon, including removal of the saturated material through vacuum extraction, internal cleaning of the tank, and restoration of the filtration section. The exhausted carbon was extracted using a vacuum system inserted through the top access hatches, allowing controlled removal and transfer into big bags for disposal. Once emptied, the unit was thoroughly cleaned and inspected before being refilled with an optimized mix of regenerated and virgin activated carbon. The “before and after” comparison clearly shows the full restoration of filtration efficiency. The intervention was scheduled based on the level of saturation, determined through periodic sampling and laboratory analysis.
