Treatment of fumes and oil mists in metal welding

A new Dutch distributor, operating in the metal welding sector, turned to HF Group to solve a complex issue related to the management of fumes and oil mists. Despite initial doubts about our proposal, we successfully demonstrated that the most effective solution for their case was the installation of the Idrodust Compact 103.

Problems

  • The customer welds galvanized steel pipes, generating mist and fumes.
  • From the welding area, 2,000 m³/h of a mixture of zinc fumes and oil mist is emitted.
  • From the cooling area, an additional 2,000 m³/h of mist is released.
  • The filtering media used by the customer was clogging quickly due to the hydration of fume particles by the oil mist.
  • Previously adopted solutions did not work due to the high density of the fumes produced by the automated welding machines.

Technical features Idrodust Compact

  • Idrodust Compact 103 filter with Sludge Drager
  • Flow rate: 3,000 m³/h
  • N. 1 extraction point
  • N. 1 fan
  • Indoor installation with post-filter
  • No supply piping required
Solutions

After a thorough analysis of the issue, HF Group proposed the installation of the Idrodust Compact 103 with Sludge Drager. This solution proved to be the most effective in managing both zinc fumes and oil mist, preventing premature clogging of the filtering media. The installation also includes a post-filter to further enhance the system's efficiency.

Advantages
  • Effective removal of fumes and oil mist from the welding area.
  • Extended lifespan of the filtration system, preventing frequent clogging.
  • Improved air quality in the workplace.
  • Enhanced safety and working conditions for operators.
