Dust treatment in carbon and graphite production

In this case study, we analyze the solution implemented for a European multinational company, a global leader in the supply of high-tech graphite and carbon-based products. The processing of these materials generates large volumes of ultrafine dust, which are particularly aggressive on extraction and filtration systems. These emissions not only pose a significant health risk for operators, but also reduce the efficiency and lifespan of the machinery involved in the production process.

Problems

  • High concentration of dust in the working environment
  • Highly abrasive dust
  • Large air volume to be treated
  • Limited space available for filter installation
  • Very low required emission limits at stack (
Solutions

Given the critical nature of the application, we selected the HJL CART system: a cartridge dust collector designed to handle medium to high dust loads. Several extraction points were installed close to the emission sources, preventing operators from being positioned between the source and the filtration system. The loading and unloading area was also optimized to ensure healthier working conditions.

Advantages
  • Long service life of the filter cartridges
  • Quick and easy cartridge maintenance
  • Reduced maintenance costs thanks to the efficient reverse-pulse cleaning system
  • Low pressure drop during operation with minimal compressed air and energy consumption
  • Robust, fully sealed construction ensuring safe and reliable long-term performance
  • Easy and safe access for inspection and maintenance
