In this case study, we worked with an Italian foundry that specializes in the production of cast iron and aluminum components through casting processes. It offers customized casting services to meet the needs of customers in the industrial and automotive sectors.
The project involved the replacement of an old dust filtering system, which had come to an end after 30 years of honorable service. It was necessary to adapt the current regulatory requirements of the foundry industry to the operational problem, dealing with aggressive dust from deburring, grinding, sandblasting and shotblasting processes, which are characterized by a high degree of abrasion.
We have developed a HJL Bag dust collector with a flow rate of 36.000 m3/h that complies with stack clearance. The filtering surface was adapted to ensure optimal filtration rate and upflow for the specific application. Due to minimize production downtime during installation, the work was planned in two phases: first the assembly of the new filtration system, followed by the dismantling and removal of the old unit. This approach ensured the impact on the production cycle was kept to a minimum.
